Lean Engineering

Tenneco as a major exhaust system supplier is facing ever growing demands from the market in the areas of research and development of new products, methodologies and tools such as CAD, CAE as well as testing. The main challenge is to meet those requirements with constant resources. The "Lean Engineering" tool was introduced in 2005 to fulfill these contradictory requirements and to achieve lean product developments and processes.

The long-term strategy of Lean Engineering aims at changing the company culture.

Lean Engineering covers 4 main domains:

  • Engineering processes including CAD, CAE and testing
  • Standardization of product components
  • Emphasis on training and mentoring of the employees
  • The visualization of processes and workflows.

Lean Engineering supports us in developing and manufacturing competitive and high quality products.
